Basketball
Our Junior Wheelchair basketball team is training every saturday in Renmore Community Centre from 13:00 to 14:00 from September to May.
Last season, for the second year running, we took part in the IWA-Sport Invacare Junior Blitz series and competed in Clontarf, Limerick, Cork, Clonaslee and Galway.
We hosted two legs of the blitz series in 2012/13 in Renmore community Centre.
Please note that not all wheelchair basketball players use a wheelchair daily to mobilise. Many wheelchair basketball players have an injury or difficulty mobilising that prevents them from competing in the 'running' basketball game.
If you are interested in playing or wish to find out more please mail us at info@speeders.ie. We are looking forward to hearing from you.
A bit of history
Basketball was one of the first sport played by the Speeders, starting in September 2008 and was run under the Titans basketball club under the Tornadoes name.
Thanks to their help, the team went from strenght to strenght and basketball became one of the most successful sport at Speeders.
Please note that the Titans basketball club also has a successful adult team, the Wheelers, playing in the Ireland National League.
